A very important milestone in my life took place between the morning of Saturday, June 6, 2009 and Sunday, June 7, 2009. What was that milestone? Well, it was the first time I'd ever gone twenty-four hours without sleep! And, one might ask, why would I do such a stupid thing as staying up that long if I had no major homework assignment due the next day? Because I could, that's why!
Not that it was a conscious decision. I got home from work at 11:30, sat down in my room, talked to my roommate, surfed the internet, listened to music, and the next thing I knew it was six o'clock in the morning, and I only had three hours to go before the start of church*. Being one of those unusual people who has a hard time waking themselves up to get ready for church after only two-and-a-half hours of sleep, I decided that it would be best to wait until after church to go to bed. Which was a stupid idea.
To make a long story short, I made it through Priesthood (that's the first class of the day, since it's one of those crazy psycho wards that reverses the Proper Order of Things) and then I went home and slept for six hours. It was exciting. And sad.
I'm sure you can all guess the moral of this story, so I won't bother to say it.

Now that you have accomplished it, you know it's not very fun. I would probably be sick as a dog if I tried to do it. Love the picture. Was that taken after a long bus ride?
Staying up all night is not something I recommend on a regular basis. In fact I'm not a fan of going under 7 hours of sleep. I hope you get to sleep long and hard tonight to get your rhythm back!
that picture was taken at 2 AM after about only two hours of sleep because sacrament meeting had gotten over about 11:30 PM or so and we had to start our hike to the top of Mt. Sinai nice and early!
staying up all night is not fun. i did that a couple times this past year and i had an extremely hard time staying awake in class the whole day.
Staying up all night used to be so easy, but now that I am so old-it is hard even to stay up all day without a good nap.
And I always thought that the older you got-the less sleep you needed. Apparently not. Now I find it hard to stay awake during any church meeting-even if I got 8 hours sleep the night before.
Oh the joys of being young!
Love, Dad
Staying up all night is so not something I can do anymore. It is good to be able to say that you have done it though. I'm glad you survived your experience and that you actually have a roommate you will stay up late to chat with! (o:
I am very surprised to hear that ALL your singles wards have started that early because that is very odd. Most of my singles wards started around 1 PM which is exactly when they should start.
