The Fall of Alpine

It was my favorite kind of day - gray, cool, cloudy, rainy (yeah, I'm kind of a depressing person) - so I decided to go on a walk and take some pictures from our neighborhood.

I would have loved to have been able to go home afterward and take a nap and then maybe make a cup of hot chocolate and read a book... But, well, I had homework and work and those two things always seem to be conspiring against my happiness.

Hehe! I saw your title and totally expected some pictures of destruction--a torn down building or a construction site in the middle of a beautiful forest or something. I'm relieved to see it's only pretty pictures around town. Hope you get to relax with some hot chocolate soon....

It's beautiful! I love the clouds on the mountains! I miss fall time. We don't really have it here.

You took some great pictures. Love the picture postcard quality.

It's hard to get good pictures on gloomy days, but I love the melancholy feel of the pictures. I especially love the second one--how the warm golden color of the grass contrasts with the slightly ominous cool gray of the clouds and how the trail disappears around the curve.

I have to admit that rainy grey days always make we want to curl up on a comfy chair and read a good book.

Not sure why, but I love cloudy rainy days. Not just quick short showers, but all day type rains-even drizzle. Always believe that I would love to live in the Pacific Northwest-with its gloomy rainy days. Mom remembers well our first nine months in Germany back in 1973-1974 when it literally rained every day.

Having espoused my love of all things wet and dreary, I especially love your pictures. Now, take some time off and go find a warm place, make yourself some hot chocolate, and curl up with a good book. Time to stop and smell the roses.
